The weekly Spanish video games industry newsletter (August 12)

Hello everybody!

After our hiatus last week, we’re back on track to give you some of the most important news regarding the Spanish video games industry. And this week we have some juicy stuff. Let’s start!

After opening a Madrid based office back in March, publisher Soedesco has made its first significant acquisition in the Spanish market. The Swedish company has acquired Superlumen, the VR focused studio currently working on Desolatium, for an undisclosed sum. The deal will let Superlumen focus on developing its own IPs and projects while expanding Soedesco’s line-up. You can read more about this here.

This week we also knew that IDEA, the physics-based puzzle game by The Longest Road will also release on iOS and Android as well as on Steam later this year. And remember that Kickstarter campaign for All on board! The mod-based VR platform to play board games from The Game Kitchen finally wrapped its campaign surpassing $70,000. Congratulations!

Let’s talk about new releases. We have three new games available for different platforms. First, a treat for nostalgics. Frogun is a cute, charming retro themed 3D adventure. Frogun is an old-school platformer from Molegato, with the soul of the PS1/N64 era, in which your frog-shaped grappling hook is a your best friend. The game is available on Steam and consoles.

Despite having been released a few years ago, the Gameloft’s Spanish branch released Asphalt 9: Legends on Steam, a game where players can race in spectacular real-life locations with prestigious cars (Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, etc.) to collect, upgrade, and customize. The game lets you experience action-packed gameplay that rewards skillful play and risk taking in single or multiplayer.

Last Night of Winter is a game by DigitalZeon. The story takes place in an old stronghold, at the last days of a great battle. You, the main character, died in combat but your will was stronger than your body, so you woke up again, to continue the siege in a never ending night. You can play it now on Steam.

That’s all for this week! Remember to follow us on social media to stay tuned and don’t forget Gamescom is almost here!
